Nera River

Nera River

Located at the foothills of the Sibillini Mountains in Umbria, this spring creek is the first fly-fishing only river in Central Italy.
This is a beautiful small river with crystal clear water that runs through weed beds. As all spring creeks, it is rich with insect life, and particularly known for Effemera Danica hatches (a big Italian version of the Hexogenia) in May.
During this month, big fish of up to 6/7 lbs come up into the open to feed on the big mayflies.
This river is situated about 2 hours away from Florence, only 45 minutes away from Perugia or Assisi and 20 minutes away from the medieval town of Spoleto.
Fishing can be technical and wading can be tricky.
The river bottom is pretty easy to walk on, but walking continuously on the river causes the less trained to become a little more tired.
Nonetheless, this is without a doubt the greatest experience we have to offer.
